Messages from Dave:

2/9/13... Glad the Grammys acknowledged David Newman's passing, but couldn't believe they didn't mention Hank Crawford. That's kind of f*cked up. Hank deserved to be recognized.

2/2/13 ...We lost Hank Crawford a few days ago. It's spooky that Hank, David Newman, and Leroy Cooper all passed within weeks of each other. These guys gave me my life. They turned on the lights for me, and opened the door to all that was great and true about music. Thank you, gentle men.

New York Times loves Here & Gone
"Mr. Sanborn’s sweet-tart alto sound has been a reliable pop staple for so many years that these grittier connections can feel surprising. When he puckers up for a swinging instrumental, like Mr. Crawford’s 'Stoney Lonesome,' the effect is a disarming delight. His rhythm section, with the bassist Christian McBride and the drummer Steve Gadd, provides a strong assist. The rest of the ensemble, a sort of little big band, plays sharp and resourceful arrangements by Gil Goldstein, who doubles here as an electric keyboardist..."
